If you are not currently working in a school and would like to pursue such a career the “Work Management and School Administration Course” for administrators not working in schools is useful starting point. Students on this two month course work alongside school administrators who are taking the same course, but also take an additional module which serves as an introduction and background to the world of schooling.
There is no recognised entry qualification for school administrators in the UK, and each school and local authority judges applicants on the basis of their experience and qualifications in general. Thus you should not in any way assume that taking this course will guarantee you a job in the future. However the fact that the course is validated by the Institute of Financial Accountants and includes one module from the QCA recognised Certificate in Educational Administration, should help your application if you are up against another applicant who has no qualifications in administration and no experience in working in a school.
The next intake for this two-month distance learning course (which is one module of the full National Certificate course) closes on 31 March. For more information please click here.
